The Shepardless Flock

I have always wondered about a few things concerning Nigeria, but in recent times the main cause for concern has been the issue of the state of confusion in the Nigerian leadership accruing to the absence of our President, Umaru Musa Yaradua, Many have expressed different opinions as to what the President of the largest black populated country in the world should or shouldn't have done with regards to handing over to the Vice President. While I have been following this development, A lot has come to mind as to what road or path the Nigerian government is steering our ship to.

I have tried to understand the situation but find it difficult to comprehend the action taken by certain Nigerians in the wake of this drama, some have called for the president to transmit a formal letter transferring power to his vice according to the Nigerian Constitution, others have gone as far as saying that a man lying in the intensive care unit of a hospital thousands of miles from Nigeria can rule the country with all due respect to our number citizen, some have said that the vice can rule without the letter, I have had some time to analyze the situation and it is obvious that certain factors may have led Nigeria down this road. The major factor being ethnic politics and ethnicity making it imperative that the leaders must have to come from a particular region rather than the fact that a leader has to have the credentials to lead and serve his people, but enough of the whole ethnic issue because it has a remedy, if a certified leader from a region leads then we would not have a problem. Another issue is the issue of who the President surrounds himself with certain people are selfish and always work based on their personal interest hereby undermining the leader's good intentions when he comes up with them. With the wake of problems in the country the people that have the power and authority to keep this country afloat are those that surround the leader they would be held accountable f0r anything that goes wrong, they would be in the history books for all the wrong reasons.

It is time for those that are in the capacity of serving the nation to understand that serving the nation takes a great deal of sacrifice rather than serving their needs alone they have to act in the interest of the Nigerian nation which is still on its path to greatness. The path is too long and we have only started for so many years remaining on the start line with out moving, lets try to move forward.
For a start the presidency should get its act together, If the word vice means what we all understand it to be then it is right for the presidency to allow the vice deputize at the time when he is still ill to put some sanity in our polity and give Nigerians a sense of security and assurance that there is a leader it would help a lot because all we have as Nigerians is hope for a better future, the leaders ought to understand that. And let us all pray for the full recovery of our dear President. God Bless Nigeria
